A decadent bechamel laced with gooey cheese serves a luscious backdrop for a fresh, green broccoli conifer. The Ceramic Coated Pot attachment for the BRUNO Compact Hotplate with its wide base and reliable heating is ideal to help put this wintertime scene together.
Any cheese with a high enough moisture content to melt well can be used in Mac and cheese, and classic cheeses to use include:
The vegetables in included in this recipe help with its decoration and add to the nutritional value of the pretty plate. as a result, you can swap these out for any of your other favorite greens. Great alternatives may include:
The best part? You don’t need an oven to make them - just use the BRUNO Air Fryer!
You can use any traditional cake frosting for covering and decorating your lunchbox cake. We used American buttercream because it is easy to make, and can be piped into pretty patterns. Other common frosting choices for lunchbox cakes include whipped cream and cream cheese frostings.
As this is a small layer cake, it presents an opportunity to stuff it with your favourite filling. For this you can use fruit jams, curds, custards, or even sweet sauces (e.g. chocolate, caramel, etc...)!
When assembling the cake just apply the stuffing over the centre of the first cake layer and contain it within a perimeter of frosting, then layer the second tier of cake on top.
For perfect gifting you can decorate the inner lid of the cake box by sticking a birthday candle on with washi tape~
]]>
We used beef, but you can opt for pork, chicken, or, ideally, a mix of pork and beef. For juicy meatballs with a good mouthfeel, we do however recommend obtaining mince with a 30 percent proportion of fat and to use a more coarsely ground mince.
Serve as it is or with a side of boiled pasta and penne. You can also add in other toppings like cherry tomatoes or cut out bat shapes with nori sheet to decorate.
Bon appetit!
]]>To ensure even cooking, flip the ones in the centre first, then work outwards. The ones in the centre will also finish cooking faster, so remove them from the hotplate first.
Oil options
Neutral vegetable oils (e.g. canola, sunflower, rice bran, etc...) great for popping corn as they don't add any flavour. For a healthier snack consider using olive or coconut oils!
Choice cover
We recommend using the Compact Glass Lid for popcorn popping. This allows you to keep an eye on the corn within the pot to monitor its status and prevent it from burning.
To end off Miffy's birthday month, we made a thicc sando that's easy and perfect to bring out for a picnic!🧺

Do you know what is takoyaki?
The literal translation is octopus(tako) grilled (yaki) - with some people calling it grilled octopus ball.
This classic Japanese street snack is a wheat flour ball, typically filled with tako (boiled octopus).
Traditionally, takoyaki batter is usually made from flour and dashi (japanese soup stock); but we've come up with our own localised version using simple ingredients that are common in your kitchen or readily available at any supermarket.
Of course, feel free to buy a premix and follow package instructions.
Let's not forget the best part about making takoyaki at home - you can put in ANY ingredients you like~
We tried ham, cheese and even mentaiko this time! What do you like in your takoyaki?
Takoyaki Batter | Fillings (anything you like!) | Toppings |
300ml Water + Soup stock cube (or 300ml stock) | Tako (boiled octopus) | Takoyaki Sauce |
1 cup Plain Flour | Cheese | Mayo |
Pinch of Salt | Ham | Bonito flakes |
Pinch of Pepper | Mentaiko | Aonori flakes |
2 Eggs | Sweet Corn | |
Chopped Spring Onion (optional) | Tenkasu | |
Pickled Red Ginger |
Tip: The takoyakis in the middle will cook slightly faster, remove and serve those first, then move the remaining takoyaki inwards

Have you heard of Yuba?
It's a staple in Japanese cooking and is actually a by-product formed during soymilk production.
It's the thin sheet of coagulated soy proteins that forms on the surface of hot soymilk. When fresh, is soft, chewy and has a light soy fragrance.
They're also sold dried and those have to be rehydrated before use.

Juicy fresh fruits encased in a crystal shell of sweetness — these dainty Kira-Kira (shiny) Fruit Gems are the perfect way to get the little ones to try out different fruits!
The divots of the BRUNO Hotplate's Takoyaki plates make ideal individual receptacles for dissolving the syrup and for coating each skewered fruit. This helps prevent contamination of the syrup of for subsequent gems so you don't get discoloring, resulting in crystal clear very Kira gems.
We recommend whole fruits or fruits with thin skin such as berries, grapes and small mandarins. Fruits with damp surfaces such as apple or pineapple are not recommended as the candy coating may not adhere.
Leftover candy mixture will dry and harden. Add water and heat your hotplate back up slightly for an easy wash-up!

Here are some tips to ensure a golden-brown perfection every time.
The downfall of a roast is parched-grainy flesh. Prevent this regrettable result with these handy tips.
Serve with roast veggies and creamy mash to the for a classically comforting roast chicken experience~

The ingredients listed below are mere suggestions that can be substituted according to what’s available in your fridge (more on this below). The important things to get right are the cooking order, and the concept of boiling down the pasta water in your BRUNO Ceramic Coated (Nabe) Pot attachment to make a robust sauce.
One pot pasta must contain two essential components, the pasta, and a boiling liquid that later reduces down to form the sauce. The rest of the ingredients - the aromatics, protein, and veggies, provide the flavour and profile of the dish, and these can be mixed-and-matched.
For this technique try to use a smaller sized pasta, that’ll make it easier to stir, you can choose common variants like macaroni, orecchiette, or orzo.
Broth is the perfect base to boil the pasta in as it will flavour the sauce. You can use beef, vegetable, or chicken stock, and fish or prawn broths can be used for seafood pastas. For tomato sauces combine crushed tomatoes with water or broth. Wine is a great inclusion which you should splash in prior adding your main solvent. Finally, for a creamy sauce, only introduce it at the end of the cook.
Plate up the pasta with extra helpings of grated cheese and a garnishing of parsley. Top with black pepper or chilli flakes to taste and enjoy~

The most traditional sauces JBGZ sauces are a combination of Hunan-style chilli garlic sauce (蒜蓉辣酱) and sweet soybean paste/ hoisin sauce, hence those are what we used in this recipe. However, several other spreadable condiments have seen popularity including:

The day is typically celebrated with dolls and a table of traditional snacks or their favourite dishes. One sweet treat many enjoy is Ichigo Daifuku いちご大福, a whole gem of a strawberry, concealed within an elegant encasement of sweet red bean paste and supple mochi.

Happy Valentine's Day~
The classic Valentine’s blossom, rose, is featured in two forms in this recipe, dried rose petals and rose syrup/ bandung. The former can be found in baking supply shops or Indian grocery stores, while rose syrup is commonly available in most supermarkets.
The coffee jelly is a refreshing contrast in this milky drink. You can purchase it in stores, or make it beforehand with sugar, coffee and agar-agar powder:
